Most voice search answers come from pages that already rank near the top of Google. In Backlinko's analysis of 10,000 Google Home results, 74.9% of voice answers were read from a page ranking in the top 3 organic results, and 40.7% were pulled directly from a Featured Snippet.
In other words, ranking well in regular search is still the clearest path to being chosen as the spoken answer.
Technical signals showed up consistently too. 70.4% of the pages Google read aloud were served over HTTPS, and 36.4% used Schema markup to label their content. None of these are guarantees on their own, but together they describe the kind of fast, secure, well-structured page that voice assistants tend to surface.
